About My Role:
As a Student Communications Assistant at MSU Infrastructure Planning and Facilities, I contribute to the department’s strategic communications through storytelling, visual content creation, and digital engagement. This role allows me to apply and grow my skills in content creation, social media strategy, photography, and video production — all while aligning with MSU’s brand standards and enhancing communications for campus-wide audiences.
Duties:
- Write and edit news stories and internal features that highlight major projects and campus operations.
- Develop graphics, illustrations, and branded materials for social, web, and email distribution using Adobe Creative Suite.
- Capture and edit photography and video content for digital campaigns and events.
- Assist in managing the department’s social media presence by scheduling posts, responding to engagement, and monitoring performance.
- Support the upkeep of the department website using Drupal and Microsoft SharePoint, ensuring accessibility and brand compliance.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and pitch ideas for internal campaigns and outreach initiatives.
- Create short-form video content highlighting student employees and sustainability efforts, increasing engagement on Instagram.
- Organize digital assets and assist in content audits to support brand consistency and improve workflow efficiency.
- Collaborate with full-time staff to develop communication materials for emergency alerts, project announcements, and special events.
